WIP vs. finished items in Process Manufacturing

Items used in Process Manufacturing can be considered work-in-process (WIP) or finished items.

A formula creates a work order, which is used to create a WIP item in inventory. A separate BOM creates the packaging for the product. You can set up the WIP item and packaging on the Process Manufacturing Specifications form and edit them before creating a batch on the Process Manufacturing Create Production Batch form.

A quantity of the formula in a package is a finished item.
