Using density to determine a common U/M

The conversion into the common U/M can be done through density calculations. Density is one of the methods that you can use to convert between weight and volume in calculations.

In the Process Manufacturing Parameters form, you specify the base weight and base volume for a site.

Then, in the Item Extensions form, you specify the density of each component that is used in a formula. For example, granulated sugar has a density of 1.59 gm/cm3. When you provide the density of an item, the system can determine the weight and volume of a specified amount of the item, and can then convert those values into other units of measure as needed for formulas.
