Performing a backward trace using Process Manufacturing Lot Recall: recommended actions

This topic describes recommended actions to take as part of a backward lot trace.

  1. Identify suspect product contained in previously shipped customer orders.
  2. Obtain information from the customer about the suspect item/lot.
  3. Perform the initial steps to recall lots or inventory, selecting Backward Trace.
  4. In the Process Manufacturing Lot Recall form, select an item/lot in the tree and review the On Hand Stock tab.
If there is inventory on hand, go to the production floor and isolate all identified on-hand inventory. Move the inventory physically and systemically into a quality hold location.
  5. Review the information in the Manufacturing tab for the item/lot.
Export the grid collection into Excel. Update the spreadsheet to list all materials/lots associated with the backward trace recall, eliminating duplicates.
  6. Create a new Forward Trace recall for all the material/lots identified in the previous step.
