Preventing private calendar events from synchronization

An administrator can configure the Exchange integration application to read your private calendar events from your Exchange account. Private appointments are intended to display users’ unavailability for the duration of their private appointments. The content is not synchronized with SyteLine calendars; instead it is always displayed as private. Deleting a private appointment from SyteLine does not remove it from your Exchange Calendar.

Use these methods to avoid synchronizing your private appointment contents:

• Always mark your calendar event as private. The client application, such as Microsoft Outlook, should provide the option to flag your calendar event as private. Typically, this is done by right-clicking on the event and selecting the private option.
• Create a separate calendar in your client application to keep track of your private calendar events.

  The Exchange integration application reads calendar events only from the primary calendar. Calendar events created in other calendars are not synchronized. Client applications, such as Outlook, have the option to see your new calendar either in side-by-side mode or in overlay mode.

  Creating a separate calendar is a crucial part of managing your time effectively. Because the visibility of your availability is unknown to the Exchange integration application, you could have conflicting events if you do set up a separate calendar.
