Setting up the tool
Now that the tool is installed, you must set up the tool to work with your environment.
- Disable all third-party Add-ins (do NOT remove them) from Excel. Do not disable theSyteLine Add-in.
- Close and restart Excel. You should now see the SyteLine functions.
- Enable the third-party Add-ins that you disabled.
- Open Microsoft Excel.
- Select the Infor CloudSuite tab.
- Select the Setup icon and click on Setup Company. The Infor CloudSuite GL Setup screen is displayed.
-
On the Infor
CloudSuite Connections tab, select your Connection Mode: Direct
Connection or IDO Web Service.
Cloud and Hosted deployments must use the IDO Web Service Connection Mode.
Direct Connection: If you select this option, the Direct Connection area of the window becomes enabled. Select this option if you plan to have a direct SQL connection to the Application database. If you choose this option, jump to step 5.
IDO Web Service: If you select this option, the IDO Web Service area of the window becomes enabled. Select this option if you plan to use a URL to connect to the Application database. If you choose this option, jump to step 6.
- Direct Connection: This method requires the user to have a SQL Username and Password configured in the SQL Server with read access to the Application Database. This is not an option for Hosted or Cloud customers. It uses a SQL Username versus Windows Authentication therefore a SQL user must be created (cannot assign the Windows user to SQL). For the Direct Connection, provide this information: Database Server Name, Application Database Name, SQL User and Password.
- IDO Web Service: This method connects to the application database via logging into SyteLine, and thus using a SyteLine login user ID and password. This method is required if hosted or deployed in the Cloud. It may also be used by on-premises customers. If you are hosted, your hosting company or Cloud support team should provide the URLs to enter in the Company Set-Up under End Point URL and Web Client URL (optional). This method uses the SyteLine User ID and Password; Later versions also support a workstation login ID for on-premises deployments. If connecting to multiple sites, the user ID and password must be the same in each site. If using Master Site, make sure the User can login to the Master Site, not just the Site being used in the Excel Financial Reporting Tool. This method requires an Automation Module be assigned to that user in each site (even Super Users). The automation license will show as IDO Session Type in Session Management. The sessions will persist while Excel is open. If Excel crashes, the sessions will remain until the next time Excel is opened, at which time they will be closed and reestablished, provided "Allow close existing sessions" is enabled in the Setup form.
-
For the IDO Web Service Connection, specify this information:
- End Point
- This is the URL address of IDO Web service. Use this syntax: http(s)://utilityorwebservername/IDORequestService/ConfigServer.aspx
- Active Configs
- Use the Load Config button to load the Active Configs. This is a list of all available configurations retrieved from the given End Point. This list may contain configuration for the test environment or multiple configurations pointing to the same Site. You must select at least one configuration from the list. The selected Config(s) is used to retrieve the Site name that is available for selection from the Tool Bar within Excel.
- Default Config
- This is the default site that is used when no Site name is explicitly provided a sa parameter. You can select the Default Config from the drop-down list. This list is populated based on the selected items in the Active Config field.
- Use Workstation Login
- Select this check box use the workstation login. If selected, the User ID and Password fields are disabled. Note that the user must be able to login to the application using the same credentials as used to log onto the Workstation.
- SyteLine User ID
- This is a valid SyteLine User ID.
- Password
- This is the password for the SyteLine User ID you provided.
-
Specify this information on the General tab:
- Enable Logging
- Select or clear the Enable Logging check box. Query
execution details and error log, if any, are logged into the System
Event Log if you select this check box. The event log is named
"Infor Global Solutions - SyteLine", and the entries are logged with the
source name "InforCloudSuiteGL Excel Add-Ins". Use Windows Event
Viewer to access these logs.
In order to write to the event log, you must have the read and write permission in the registry for:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Application
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Security
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\event log
The Enable Logging option should be enabled only for troubleshooting purposes. Turn it off when the troubleshooting is complete.
The Add-ins creates an Event Log one time and writes entries into the log when Event Logging is enabled. However, the event log creation may fail if you do not have administrator privileges to create one. So, we recommend that you run EXCEL in Admin mode at least once to create the Event Log. A standard user can read or write into an Event log unless there are special security settings that prevent doing so.
To run Excel in Admin mode:
- Click the Windows Start Button.
- Specify Excel.
- Press SHIFT + CTRL + ENTER.
- Enable Caching
- Select or clear the Enable Caching check box. If this field is cleared, caching is enabled only for the current session when activated by selecting "'Populate Cache" from the Toolbar menu. If you want to enable caching every time you work with GL functions, select this field.

- Image Location for Report Templates
- Enter the name or browse to the name of the folder where you store images for the report templates. If you aren’t using the report templates, you can leave this field blank.

Templates check box. You should also select the Standard Reporting Templates
