About displaying DataView results

You can display DataView results in these ways:

To display predefined DataViews, from the DataViews form, select an existing DataView and then click Launch.
Predefined DataViews are constructed using the DataViews setup process and are accessible only to selected users. The results are displayed in the DataView Results form.
To display form DataViews, in any form that displays data, click the DataView icon in the toolbar.
These DataViews use the data from the form as its source. The results are displayed in the DataView Form Results form.
To create an event to launch the DataView Results form directly from a form you choose, open your chosen form and create the event for that form in the designer (Web Designer in the web client or Design Mode in the Windows client).

The DataView Results form and DataView Form Results form show data based on the properties that have been set on the DataViews Setup form and the DataView IDO Setup form. Properties differ by DataView and layout.

You can use the DataView control to perform several actions on the data displayed in the results grid. Among other things, you can perform these actions:

Save changes to the current layout or save it as a new layout with a different name.
Customize how data is displayed in the grid.
Print the data as a report.
Export the data into a file.
Process the data displayed in the results grid.

Note: The DataView control displays differently, depending on the client that you are using. In the web client, you can click the gear icon on any of the column headers to display the DataView control. In the Windows client, the DataView control displays as a menu bar.
