Checking out global objects

When you check out a form or global object, you can make changes to the object in this application, without others overwriting your changes. When you check out an object, Form Control locks the object so that no one else can access it until you check it back in or unlock it.

Note:

You can check out global objects only if you have Site Developer or Vendor Developer editing permissions.
If you attempt to open the Web Designer (in a web client) or go into Design Mode (in a Windows client), and if the global object is already checked out to someone else, you cannot check it out.

Open the Form Control form.
In the Actions group box, select Check Out.
On the Global Objects tab, from the Selection Criteria list, select the type of global object you want to check out.
From the Master object name field, select the name of the object you want to check out.

Note: The list of items available in the Master object name field depends on the type of object you selected.

Form Control displays this information about the selected object:

Locked By User

If anyone currently has the object checked out, the ID for that user is displayed. If this field is empty, the object is not already checked out.
Note: If the object is already checked out, you must have the object checked back in or unlocked before you can check it out.

Master Value

The current value of the object in the master database displays.

Run-time Value

The value, if any, that the object has in the run-time database displays.
Click Execute Action.
At the prompt, click OK.
