Using the Send BOD event action

To create and send a Business Object Document (BOD) using the Send BOD event action, you must perform these tasks:

  • Provide a BOD noun and BOD verb.
  • Construct the XML-formatted body of the BOD.

The Application Event System (AES) provides multiple ways to construct a BOD. You can use any of these techniques:

  • Use a predefined template as a starting point and modify it as needed. In this case, you have these options:
    • Select a template registered with the system using the BOD Templates form.
    • Load an XML file containing the template.
  • Create the body from scratch using the Event Action Send BOD form.
  • Write the XML code manually in the Event Handlers form.

Use this method only if you are very confident that you can do so successfully. It is much easier to use either of the first two options.

Whether you use a template or create the body of the BOD from scratch, use the Event Action Send BOD form to modify and further construct the body of the BOD to be sent.

Note:  The Send BOD event action is used to generate PulseAlert BODs from some publications.
