DataView control in the Windows client

Note: The DataView control displays differently depending on the client that you are using. In the Windows client, the DataView control displays as a menu bar.

Layout options

This table shows the Layout menu options in the DataView control in the Windows client:


Option	Description
Save	To save changes to the current layout, select this option.
Save As	To save the layout as a new layout with a different name, select this option.
Delete	To delete the current layout, select this option.
Select	To select other existing layouts for the current DataView, select this option.

Display options

This table shows the Display menu options in the DataView control in the Windows client:


Option	Description
Expand All	To display all rows of data in the grid, select this option.
Collapse All	To display only the top-level rows of data in the grid, select this option.
Choose Columns	To launch the Choose Columns dialog box, in which you can select which columns display in the grid, select this option.
Custom Columns	To launch the Custom Columns dialog box, in which you can create new columns from existing columns in the data results, select this option.
Expression Columns	To launch the Edit DataView Expressions form, in which you can create or edit expressions, select this option.
Expression Summaries	To launch the Edit DataView Expression Summaries dialog box, which you can use to maintain expression summaries, select this option.
Show Options	To display Group By Area in the DataView header, and to display the Summary, Filter, and Pin Column icons in the column headers, select this option.
Hide Options	To hide Group By Area in the DataView header, and to hide the Summary, Filter, and Pin Column icons in the column headers, select this option.
Show Group By	To display Group By Area in the DataView header, select this option.
Hide Group By	To hide Group By Area in the DataView header, select this option. Note: This option displays if you select Show Options or the Show Group By menu option.
Show Column Scroll Lock	To display the Pin Column icons in the column headers, select this option.
Hide Column Scroll Lock	To hide the Pin Column icons in the column headers, select this option. Note: This option displays if you select Show Options or the Show Column Scroll Lock menu option.
Show Filters	To display the Filter icons in the column headers, select this option. To create a filter for a column, or to clear a previously applied filter, click the Filter icon of that column. You can select or clear the check boxes of the available data in that column. To search for a specific data, use the search box. Depending on the type of data in a column, you can create custom filters such as number, text, or date filters. To launch the Custom Filter Selection dialog box, click the available custom filter option and then select a filter operator. For example, if the data in a column contains numbers, click Number Filters and then select a filter operator such as Equals. In the Custom Filter Selection dialog box, specify the Operand for your selected operator. You can also add multiple filter conditions.
Hide Filters	To Hide the Filter icons in the column headers, select this option. Note: This option displays if you select Show Options or the Show Filters menu option.
Show Summaries	To display the Summary icons in the column headers, select this option.
Hide Summaries	To hide the Summary icons in the column headers, select this option. Note: This option displays if you select Show Options or the Show Summaries menu option.
Show Extended Captions	To displays extended captions in the column headers, select this option. An extended caption consists of any default caption, or caption override, followed by the property name in parentheses.
Hide Extended Captions	To hide extended captions in the column headers, select this option. Note: This option displays if you select Show Options or the Show Extended Captions menu option.

Print options

This table shows the Print menu options in the DataView control in the Windows client:


Option	Descriptions
Print Preview	To see a print preview of the DataView, select this option. The preview displays in a separate window.
Print	To launch the Print dialog box and print the DataView display to any local, system-enabled printer, select this option.

Send To options

Use these menu options to export the DataView into an output file. When you use these options, the current state of the DataView is exported. Features such as column order and visibility,filters, and summaries are preserved and supported in the output file.

This table shows the Send To menu options in the DataView control in the Windows client:


Option	Description
Excel	To export the DataView as a spreadsheet file, select this option. The output file opens in Excel, or other compatible spreadsheet application. Note: When you export a DataView in which summary labels are set to Excel format, you are prompted whether to include the summary labels in the contents of the output file. To include the summary labels in the contents of the output file, select Yes. To exclude the summary labels in the contents of the output file, select No.
XPS	To export the DataView as a XPS file, select this option. Note: This option is available only in the Windows client.
PDF	To export the DataView as a PDF file, select this option.

Data options

This table shows the Data menu options in the DataView control in the Windows client:


Option	Description
Refresh	To requery the data with the same search criteria as the current display, select this option.
Get More Rows	When the number of available records exceeds the record cap of a query, select this option to requery and return more records.
Prompt for Inputs	For DataViews that have input parameters with no supplied values, select this option to perform a new query using different input parameter values.

Setup menu

To launch the DataViews Setup form, pre-filtered for the current DataView, select the Setup menu option.
