Groups

Use the Groups form to create groups and to assign users to them. These groups can be organized in any way that makes sense for your company or organization -- by location, by organization, by job description, and so on.

Caution:
Although the system allows you to modify or delete the default groups, doing so may cause future conversion problems while upgrading and other problems. We recommend you copy the records from the default group to a new group name and modify that. Do NOT delete or modify default groups. For various reasons, you should not copy these groups: Estimating Hide Prices, Order Entry Hide Prices, Purchase Requisitions Approval, Order Entry Invoicing Reprint, Estimating Costs, Purchasing Costs, APS - Override Projected Date, APS - Set Due Date > Projected, Credit Field Update, ECN - Approve, ECN - Post, ECN - Est - Insert, ECN - Est - Delete, ECN - Est - Update, ECN - Est - ViewCosts, ECN - Job - Insert, ECN - Job - Delete, ECN - Job - Update, ECN - Job - ViewCosts, ECN - Std - Insert, ECN - Std - Delete, ECN - Std - Update, ECN - Std - ViewCosts, Employee - Hourly, Employee - Salaried, Enter out of Date Range, Item Stockroom - Remote Insert, Item Maint - Rev Track, Posting out of Current Period, Project Entry, Project Estimating, Project Cost Rollup, Project Labor Transaction, Project Material Transaction, Project Manager, Project Adjustment Transaction, and RMA Hide Costs.

You can assign users to groups in such a way that you can then create group authorizations that apply to every user in the group. In this way, groups offer an easy and efficient way to assign permissions.

Similarly, you can use "nested" or "composite" groups and "subgroups" to apply the permissions of multiple groups to a set of users.
