About setting up a master site
When you create a master site on the Intranets form, the system validates these conditions:
- The selected site is in the currently selected intranet.
- The selected site is the site where you are logged in.
- Live links are set up between this site and the other sites in the intranet.
When a master site is specified for an intranet, the IntranetSharedTable table is populated in the master site’s database with the list of sharable _all tables. The system adds records only for _all tables where triggers do not exist that are not replication triggers. For example, shipcode_mst_all would not be included in the list of sharable tables, since it has a trigger to make data integrity type checks.
If the master site value for this intranet is later set to blank (deleted), the _all table records for that intranet in IntranetSharedTable are also deleted. Each record in the table contains the intranet name, table name, and indicators of whether the table has been shared or processed. The columns map to the fields on the Intranet Shared Tables form.
If, as recommended, you have defined rules to replicate the system administration category from the master site to all the using sites in the intranet, those using sites will have a copy of the IntranetSharedTable table.
