Licensing overview

In Infor SyteLine, licensing is used to monitor user access to specific forms, IDOs, and other objects in the application. For example, there are license modules associated with the Credit Card and Tax interfaces, and license modules that are associated with forms and features in country packs, industry packs, portals, employee self-service, and service management.

Infor uses the "usage-tracking" model for cloud environments. SyteLine no longer validates user licenses to limit access. By default, users can access any forms and IDOs in the application. User access to forms and IDOs is controlled only by the group authorizations (roles) or individual permissions that the system administrator assigns to specific users.

Licensing of specific modules for a certain number of users in a site is still required. Infor can perform “snapshot” auditing, through database queries, to determine which forms and IDOs your users are accessing at any given time. A user consumes all modules to which the form or IDO belongs and which match the current session type and site type (site vs. entity). The audit can verify whether the forms or IDOs being accessed at the time of the "snapshot" are associated with license modules that your company has purchased. The audit can also verify whether the number of concurrent users who are accessing forms/IDOs associated with a certain license module at the time of the "snapshot" exceed the number of users for which you are licensed.

It is up to the system administrator to set up authorizations so that you limit user access to fields, forms and IDOs associated with modules for which your company has not purchased licenses. You can use the Modules for Form form to determine which forms are associated with each license module.

For multi-tenant cloud customers, licensing is handled by the Cloud Enablement Team. Be aware of these licensing differences from an on-premises environment:

  • Intranet licensing is never used.
  • The multi-site (_MS) license modules are not needed.
