Engineering Change Notice Steps

Use this process to record engineering changes to an item in inventory and to update the related operations and materials. Use Engineering Changes Notices (ECN) for inventory, job orders, and estimates.

Note:  The system may prevent you from adding items flagged obsolete or slow-moving to an ECN.
  1. Create the ECN header on the Engineering Change Notices form.
  2. Create the ECN line items on the Engineering Change Notice Items form.
  3. Approve an individual ECN record on the Engineering Change Notices form, or use the Change ECN Status Utility and Change ECN Item Status forms to approve a range of ECNs.
  4. After approving an ECN record, post it with the Post Engineering Change Notice form.
