Start Date

This field applies to APS, MRP, and the Scheduler.

Enter the date on which this job is to be released for work (the start of the first job operation). The system uses the Start Date and the item's lead time to generate the End Date automatically, if the End Date is blank or if it is before the Start Date.

Note:  This field is normally required. However, if the Calculate Job End Dates When Blank field on the Planning Parameters form is selected, then this field becomes optional, and the following condition applies: if the Start Date is left blank, or if only the End Date is entered, at the next planning run the system calculates backward by the lead time to assign a Start Date.
Note:  The system may populate or update this date based on current plan data, depending on whether you are using MRP or APS.
