Slack (Days)

Generally, slack is "elective" waiting time. That is, it is the largest number of days by which you could delay the start of the operation and still not impact the demand's completion date. It is usually associated with nodes that are not on the critical path. Slack occurs only on an item's first operation. A decimal value indicates a fractional number of days based on a 24-hour day; for example, 0.5 = 12 hours.

Note:  There may be slack time on the critical path if the item had to wait for a resource to become available. If a purchased item has multiple sources of supply, only the minimum slack of all the sources is displayed.
