Release Date

This field displays the selected item's release date. The system calculates the release date differently depending on whether you ran the Material Planner Workbench Generation utility with the Use Planned Data field set to Yes or No.

If Use Planned Data was set to Yes when you ran the Material Planner Workbench Generation utility, the Release Date column will contain the release date calculated as follows, depending on the planning method you used:

  • MRP Planning: Release Date = Due Date - (FLT + (VLT * Quantity Required))
  • APS Planning: APS calculates the Release Date during the Planning run, using Current Operation times and any constraints caused by material or shift capacity (either infinite or finite).
  • MPS Processor: Release Date = Due Date - (FLT + DTSLT + PWLT + (VLT * Quantity Required))

Where:

  • FLT = Fixed Lead Time
  • VLT = Variable (per-piece) Lead Time
  • DTSLT = Dock-to-Stock Lead Time
  • PWLT = Paperwork Lead Time

If Use Planned Data was set to No when you ran the Material Planner Workbench Generation utility, the system uses the following process to calculate the release date: the system determines the initial due date of the planned order. The due date is determined differently depending on the type of replenishment you are using on the Material Planner Workbench Generation form.

  • Item Replenishment method: Due Date = current date + item's lead time.
  • Cross-referencing method: Due Date depends on the type of cross-reference that will be created
  • Customer orders: Due Date = Customer order line item Due Date
  • Projects: Due Date = Project task start date
  • Transfer orders: Due Date = Transfer order line item Sched Ship Date
  • Jobs: Due Date = Job operation Start date
Note:  For a description of these replenishment methods, see Material Planner Workbench Overview.
  • Finds the manufacturing day that is closest to the Due Date (manufacturing days are determined by the default scheduling shift and the MDAY Start/MDAY End fields defined on the Planning Parameters form). The system will use this date as the Due Date for the rest of the calculation.
  • Calculates the Release Date as: Due Date - item's Fixed Lead Time - Dock-to-stock Lead Time - Paperwork Lead Time - Transit Time - (Variable Lead Time * Required Quantity) / average number of hours per day.
  • Finds the manufacturing day that is closest to the calculated date from the previous step. If a date cannot be determined based on this calculation, the field will be blank.
Note:
  • For purchased items, variable lead time is not used.
  • Expedited lead time is not used in the calculation of the item's lead time.
