Production Type

This field applies to APS and MRP.

The field is active only when the cost type on the Items or Multi-Site Items form is set to Standard. The Production Type indicates the most frequently used method of manufacture for an item. This value determines the default action the system takes when you firm Planned Orders or MPS Orders:

If the production type is...	This happens when you firm the order
Job	A job is created.
Prod Sched	The Generate Production Schedules activity opens.
KANBAN/JIT	You are not able to firm these orders.
