Overlapping Operation Processing APS
This topic applies only to APS. You define overlap on an operation to represent the
number of run hours the previous operation must complete before this operation can start.
The system moves back the operation's start and end dates to reflect this
overlap.
The system then makes further adjustments to the operation's dates based on these circumstances:
- Considers that the first operation may split across breaks for other operations (as defined in the Break Rule for the operation) and makes the necessary adjustment.
- Ensures the second operation does not end before the first operation. If the difference between the second operation's new start date/time and the end of the first operation is greater than the total duration of the second operation, the system adjusts the horizon again so the second operation cannot finish before the first operation.
If you run the Scheduler after running APS Planning, the Scheduler performs its overlap processing based on the same Offset value.
