Number of Units to Depreciate

Enter the value consistent with the depreciation method you have chosen.

  • For assets that use the usage depreciation method, the number of units to depreciate is the number of units in the asset's life. You enter this value.
  • For assets that do not use the usage depreciation method, the number of units to depreciate (when the depreciation frequency is period) is the number of accounting periods over which the asset is to be depreciated. When the depreciation frequency is yearly, the number of units to depreciate is equal to the useful life. The system calculates this value.

The default amount is calculated by accessing the useful life and the number of accounting periods from the General Ledger (G/L). This value does not decrease.

Once a depreciation schedule is entered, this field may only be updated by a person with Super User authorization.
