Currency

On the Customers or Multi-Site Customers form, specify the currency to use as you set up the customer. The default value is your site's domestic currency. This currency is used for maintaining customer-level values, such as credit limits and posted balances.

Caution:
The Currency field cannot be changed once the customer has been added.

On other forms, the customer default currency is displayed and cannot be changed, with these exceptions:

  • On the Customer Orders, Customer Orders Quick Entry, and Estimates forms, if you have set up multiple currencies for the customer and no lines exist on the order, this field is enabled for selecting a different currency for the order.
  • On the Invoices, Debit, and Credit Memos form, if the credit or debit memo is tied to an invoice, then it must have the same currency as the invoice. Otherwise, if you have set up multiple currencies for the customer, you can select a different currency. When credit memos are used during payment processing, transactions from multiple currencies can be applied to the credit memo. They function the same as other payments.
  • On the RMAs form, if you have set up multiple currencies for the customer and no lines exist on the RMA, this field is enabled for selection of a different currency. Only orders with a matching currency can be added to the RMA.
  • On the Delivery Orders form, if you have set up multiple currencies for the customer and no sequences exist on the delivery order, this field is enabled for selection of a different currency. Only orders with a matching currency can be added to the delivery order.
  • On the Projects and Estimate Projects forms, if you have set up multiple currencies for the customer, no milestones have been created, and the project status is not Complete or History, then this field is enabled for selection of a different currency. Invoicing is performed in the selected currency.
Note:  Cost fields always display in domestic currency, but other currency fields (such as Price) can hold foreign values.
