Subject areas

Subject areas list all attributes and measures in a space. Apart from the default subject area, a space administrator can create custom subject areas. Birst has several predefined custom subject areas that correspond to the different domains.

• Finance
• Inventory
• Sales

Each custom subject area contains only the corresponding dimensions and measures of a specific domain. A conformed dimension has the same set of attributes available across several subject areas. These attributes are a subset of those in the default subject area. The measures are grouped by business area per domain.

Security is also defined for each custom subject area.
