Upgrading Document Management features

For existing cloud and on-premises customers, some releases can include additional or updated IDM document workflows in SyteLine. Monthly releases can also include new or updated document types, business models, etc., to be included in the Document Management app.

Prerequisites:

  • In Document Management, back up your existing document types with ACLs and Related Documents (bundling rules) by performing an export to a configuration file. If you have customized content, you also might want to take screenshots of the customized content as a backup.
  • On-premises only: Perform a database backup.
  • If you have customized any of the predefined workflows in the IDM Document Workflows form, make a record of your current workflows. You could do this by saving the information in the workflow grid to Excel. The update might overwrite some of the workflow information. Using the spreadsheet, you can manually re-add your changes to the workflows.

To perform the upgrade:

  1. To update the content in Document Management, import the IDM_Configuration.xml file, which is found on the Infor Support Portal.

See Importing ERP-related definitions into Document Management.

Note: Most of your customized content (such as additional document types, additional attributes on existing document types, etc.) will not be affected by the import. Only new content is added by the import. However, if you have modified the names of existing document types, attributes or ACLs to change the case, or to include additional spaces before or after the name, the import could fail when it tries to reconcile the names.
  2. Verify that your previous customizations are still in the updated document types, attributes and ACLs.
  3. In the SyteLine Feature Management form, activate the RS8485 feature.
This will update the IDM Workflows form, to add information needed for bundling.
  4. On the IDM Workflows form:
    1. Verify that the workflows you use are still set to Active. Verify that any unused workflows are not set to Active.
    2. If you had customized content in the workflows, re-add that content.
Note: Ensure that you do not remove Infor updates while adding your custom content.
