Set Tag Sheet Controls

Use this form to set the Physical Inventory parameters used to monitor the physical inventory count process. The parameters to enter include:

  • Beginning and Ending Tag Numbers
  • Beginning and Ending Sheet Numbers
  • Last Tag Used
  • Last Sheet Used
  • Increment

Before you can set the Tag/Sheet Controls, you must freeze the inventory by selecting the Physical Inventory in Process field on the Freeze/Unfreeze form. This prevents inventory transactions from taking place during physical inventory.

You must be able to account for all tags/sheets entered. Use the Void Inventory Tags/Sheets form to void any unused tags/sheets.

Note:  In a multi-site environment, tag and sheet controls are unique within each warehouse.

If the location is a transit location, or if a warehouse record has not yet been created for the item, you cannot create a new Item Stockroom.

If you have selected Print Blank Sheets on the Print Inventory Sheets form, you need to determine the approximate number of tags/sheets to print if you are printing a large quantity of blank tags/sheets. To set the beginning and ending tag/sheet numbers, determine the approximate number of item/location/lot combinations on the Items form. Overestimate this number to ensure enough tags/sheets print. You can void any extra tags/sheets after you take and enter the count. Then, decide the increment for tag and sheet printing.

See Example: End Tag Number.
