Transfer
On the Transfer Orders form, enter or select a transfer order number. This number is a unique key identifying the transfer order. Each time a transfer order is added, the system increments the largest available transfer order number in the file.
For example, say you have a site located in Dallas that uses 'D' as the prefix. The system would default Transfer Order numbers at the Dallas site with a prefix of 'D', i.e. D000000001, D000000002, D000000003, etc. When you create a Transfer Order in Dallas that will be shipped to a site in Columbus, the system will default the next Transfer Order number in Dallas, 'D000000001'. The system will also automatically create a complementary record in Columbus with the same Transfer Order number, 'D000000001'.
The creation of the complementary record provides you with a means to track a Transfer Order between two sites. In this example, both Dallas and Columbus will recognize 'D000000001' as the same Transfer. Besides avoiding duplication, another benefit of using a meaningful Transfer Order number prefix is that you can determine which site originated the Transfer Order.
Users at either the From Site or To Site can make additions, updates, or deletions as long as they have appropriate authorizations.
On the Item/Warehouse form, enter the transfer order number that this item will be replenished by. Only transfer orders from the same warehouse as the item being replenished and with a status of ordered are available to choose from.
On other forms, the transfer number from the Transfer Orders form displays.
