Schedule Driver

This field applies to APS and the Scheduler.

The Schedule Driver field determines whether machine or labor hours will be used for planning and scheduling the operation.

  • Labor: The labor hours determine the operation's Run Duration for APS and scheduling.
  • Machine: The machine hours determine the operation's Run Duration for APS and scheduling.

You can select the schedule driver on the work center and it provides the default schedule driver on operations using this work center (you may change the value on the operation as desired).

Note:  This field is only active if you have both Labor and Machine resource groups selected for the operation. If there is only one type of resource group, that resource group drives the plan and schedule and the system ignores the Schedule Driver.

For example, an operation has two Labor Hours Per Piece, and two Machine Hours Per Piece. There is a labor resource group with a quantity of two, and a machine resource group with a quantity of one. With this combination, the system would pass one hour for each labor resource, and two hours for the machine. If the Schedule Driver is set to Labor, the system will pass one hour per labor resource, and one hour for the machine. If the Schedule Driver is set to Machine, the system will pass two hours per labor resource, and two hours for the machine.
