Required Quantity

The required quantity displays. This field is calculated differently depending on the type of replenishment method you used when you ran the Material Planner Workbench Generation:

  • Use Planned Data method: Required Quantity = Planned order quantity calculated by the system.
  • Item Replenishment method: Required Quantity = (Quantity On-Hand + Quantity Ordered + Quantity WIP) - (Quantity Allocated to Customer Orders + Quantity Allocated to Production + safety stock)
  • Cross-referencing method:
    • Customer orders: Required Quantity = Customer order line item quantity ordered
    • Projects: Required Quantity = Project resource quantity
    • Transfer orders: Required Quantity = Transfer order line item quantity requested
    • Jobs: the calculation depends on the setting of the Quantity Per field on the Job Materials form.

If Quantity Per field is Units: Required Quantity = (Job quantity * Job material quantity) / (1 - Scrap Factor)

If Quantity Per field is Lot: Required Quantity = Job material quantity / (1 - Scrap Factor)

You can change the value in this field as desired. You can use this field to combine requirements into one planned order. Be sure to remove any unnecessary lines after you have combined the quantities. To do this, set the required quantity to zero, then process the record. When you process a zero-quantity record, it is deleted from the system.
