Quantity Resources

This field applies to APS and the Scheduler.

Enter the number of resources from this resource group that should be allocated to a load. The default value is one. For example, define a quantity of three when the operation requires three crew members. Do not specify a quantity greater than the number of member resources defined for the resource group.

On the Work Centers form, this field provides a default value for the resource Quantity field on the Operations record when you create an operation.

On the Operations form, you may change the default value from the work center. The quantity of resources applies to the corresponding action that is specified in the Action field. For example, if you entered 10 as the quantity, and Allocate and Free is the selected Action, the system will allocate 10 units (such as grinding machines) to the load before the operation starts and then free the units at the end of the operation.

Note:  This field does not support fractional sizes. To represent a "partial crew" working on an operation, you must add more resources to the resource group than you normally need, and then allocate a proportionally smaller number to an operation. For example, suppose your actual resource group has 4 member resources. You want to allocate them in 1/2 increments. You would create the resource group record with twice as many member resources as you actually use (eight resources in this example). To allocate 0.5 crew members, you specify 1 in the Quantity Resources field on the operation. To allocate 2.5 crew members, you specify 5 in the Quantity Resources field, and so on.
