Location, Range

Enter the first and last location to appear on the report.

On the Inventory Balance Report, information by location is not available at all for LIFO and FIFO costed items.

Also, when filtering by location for Average Costing Method items, it is important to analyze all locations. This is because the Average Costing Method uses a weighted average of the costs of all items in all locations and maintains one actual, average unit cost for an item at all times. As a result, if you filter for a specific location when the location quantity is zero, some related location data does not display, and the amount balance reported in the As Of column can be incorrect (more than zero).

On the other hand, when filtering by location for an item that uses the Specific Costing Method and the location quantity is zero, the As Of column displays zero. This is because the Specific Costing Method maintains the cost at the item location level.

So, filtering by location can be useful if you want only to check for quantities or you are using the Standard or Specific Costing Method for items.
