Before you use FormSync

Before you use FormSync, take these actions to prepare your system:

• Configure a file-comparison utility.
• Back up your databases.
• Verify that your database servers are configured properly.
• Determine what level of customization synchronization you need to perform.
• Install any third-party products or databases you want to synchronize.
• (Optional) Scan any potentially problematic configurations for form, object, and other errors and inconsistencies. You can also fix any problems found before proceeding with synchronization.
• (Optional) Select the Source and Target configurations you want to use.

  This action is necessary only if the configurations you want to use were not selected when you first opened FormSync.

• (Optional) If you are planning to use FormSync to synchronize and merge the results of custom development that you or or your organization are doing, we strongly recommend that you set up a special development environment for such work.
