Using default settings for synchronization
When you use the default (initial) settings to synchronize, the process affects all customizations to all forms, all global objects, and the Explorer in the Target configuration.
Caution:
Before synchronization,
make sure you back up the forms database in the Target configuration and confirm
your database and server settings.
Note: For help with any of the following steps, see the appropriate topic in the Related
Topics list.
To synchronize with the default settings:
- Launch FormSync and make the basic settings common to all synchronization operations.
- Without selecting any other options or making any other settings, click .
FormSync proceeds with the synchronization process, using the default settings. If you selected the Display prompts during synchronization option, you must respond to each prompt before synchronization can continue.
During this default process, FormSync performs these operations:
- Synchronizes all forms and objects in the Source and Target databases.
- Deletes all base-level forms and objects in the Target database, except for those new forms and objects you have created.
- Replaces all base-level versions of forms and object with new base-level versions from the Source database.
- Merges all your customized forms with the new base-level versions from the Source database.
- Removes any runtime changes made by users when the form is replaced.
- Updates the Explorer with any changes in the Source database, while keeping your customizations intact and verifying that links in the Explorer to forms are valid.
- Optionally, removes all your customizations to global objects, after prompting you as to whether you want to keep or discard your customizations.
