Inserting MailMerge Fields for Contacts in the Communication Wizard Message Area

These contact fields are available for use in MailMerge documents:

If you are creating a simple email without a template, type the text of your message into the Message field in the Communication Wizard. When you reach a point where you want to insert a MailMerge field, follow these steps:

  1. Select a field in the Merge Field dropdown. A variable representing this selection is placed on the clipboard.
  2. Place the cursor in the Message box.
  3. Press Ctrl + V to insert the variable at the cursor location.
  4. Continue composing the message.
  5. When the communication is sent, all variables you placed are replaced with the appropriate data.
EXAMPLE: You are sending an email to two prospects, Joe and Jane, and you want to personalize the message. Select First Name in the Merge Field dropdown, then paste the variable into the message opening. The message now begins, "Dear {@FirstName}". When the message is sent, the variable is replaced and the messages read, "Dear Joe" and "Dear Jane."
