About the Runtime Builder
The Runtime Builder is a tool used for a specialized set of Mongoose forms that are designed to allow authorized users to create simple forms in Runtime Mode, without having to use the Web Designer (in a web client) or go into Design Mode (in a Windows client).
This feature was created primarily for system administrators who either want to provide their users with an easier, less complicated option than the Web Designer or Design Mode for creating forms; or for form developers who do not want to tackle the complexities of Design Mode to create fairly simple forms. Runtime Builder, therefore, was designed to allow the creation of relatively limited-capability forms while in Runtime Mode.
About using the Runtime Builder
Before attempting to use the Runtime Builder, a system administrator must use the Form Wizard Categories form to designate which form wizards can be used in Runtime Mode, and thus, what types of forms can be created using Runtime Builder.
The Runtime Builder can be used to create forms only by users who are authorized. An authorized user must have either Site Developer or Vendor editing permissions. Such a user can only create forms of the types designated on the Form Wizard Categories form as Runtime Builder form types.
About Form Wizards
"Form wizards" are a special group of forms designed to be used as "wizards" to create end-user forms. These forms were originally created to allow form developers to create forms in a web client environment, such as a cloud installation of your application.
Each wizard form is designed to guide the user through the creation of a different type of form. Some of these are for the "classic" Mongoose form types: MultiView, Grid Only, Query, and so on. Others are used for the creation of specialized forms, such as the Data Lake IDO Wizard or the REST API Wizard.
For the Runtime Builder, we expanded on these wizard forms, to allow them to be used in runtime by authorized users. This expanded use of the wizard forms is controlled by designating one or more of the original wizard forms as "Runtime Builder" forms. Only wizard forms that have been designated as "Runtime Builder" forms can be used to create forms while in Runtime Mode.
