Packing lists

A packing list is a document that lists all items included in a shipment or package. The purpose of this document is to ensure accurate order fulfillment, support inventory management, and facilitate smooth customs clearance during transportation.

SXe Packing List

The SXe packing list can be automatically printed with updated quantities and carton information from TWL when the order is moved to the Packed stage. You can also print the packing list manually while the order is in the packed stage.

To print packing slips automatically, the TWL administrator must configure these CSD Packing List fields on the TWL Carrier Master Setup screen:

  • The Print check box is selected.
  • The CSD Printer field is set to the required printer. This printer is used as the default printer when Parameter 5260 is disabled.

Parameter 5260 (Allow Report Printer For SXe Pack Slip) enables an operator to select the required printer for SXe Pack Slips instead of using the default printer. If the TWL administrator sets Parameter 5260 value to Yes, operator can select the required printer on these screens:

  • TWL Order Picking: After the order is fully picked when the warehouse is configured for pick-to-pack processing.
  • TWL Order Packing: After the order is fully packed when the warehouse is configured for pick-to-tote processing.

When an SXe Pack Slip is initiated, a new transaction of type PR: Print Packing List Upload is created in TWL when the order is packed. These transactions are synchronized to CSD and stored in the Warehouse Logistics Transaction Inquiry screen. You can filter these transactions by setting the Transaction Type field to Received and the Process Type field to Print Pack, in the Advanced Search window. These transactions are processed immediately upon creation and are not associated with the Active status type.

You can view these transaction details on the Transactions tab of the TWL Order Inquiry screen:

  • Employee: Displays the TWL RF employee linked to the operator on the SA Operator Setup screen who initiated the SXe packing slip print.
  • Transaction Type: Displays PR: Print Packing List Upload.
  • Created By: Displays the program that created the transaction. Possible programs:
    • ordstat_web.p: Indicates that the packing slip is printed automatically based on the carrier master record configuration.
    • pac_psx_web.p: Indicates that the packing slip is printed manually using the F9 keyboard shortcut or the Print SX.e Packing List option on the Controls screen in TWL.

After the Warehouse Logistics Transaction Inquiry transaction is processed, the corresponding order is updated with the quantities packed in TWL. If the order is under maintenance, the quantities are not updated correctly, and the Status Type of the transaction is set to Error. This transaction can be reactivated.

The print format for the packing slip is based on the Pick Tickets values specified for the order types on the Printing screen of the SA Administrator Options-Documents-<Type of Order> Orders screen. The packing slip initiates a pick ticket print that is generated with a packing slip title and includes additional information such as carton details. The operator value is also printed on the ticket based on the Default GL Operator field value specified on the SA Administrator Options-Logistics-WL Options screen. If this value is not specified, R&D is used as the operator and printed on the ticket. Operators must be assigned the required security permissions to print pick tickets and packing slips.

If a print job is lost or another copy is required, you can reprint the packing slip from the TWL Web RF by pressing F9 or by using the Print SX.e Packing List option on the Controls menu.

A prompt window is displayed where you must specify the order for which the packing slip must be printed. By default, the last packed order during the current user session is populated. If no order is processed during the current session, the field remains blank.

If the TWL administrator sets Parameter 5255 (Display SX.e Pack Slip Confirmation) value to Yes, a confirmation message is displayed when a packing slip is automatically printed for an order. The message also includes the printer information.

Other Packing Lists

TWL also provides other TWL RF reports that can be used as packing slips. These reports can be printed from the Packing-Print Packing List screen in TWL using the carton information.

These reports can only be printed manually and use the System Admin User defined on the SA Administrator Options-System-Login Security screen. Transactions are not created for these reports and are not displayed on the Warehouse Logistics Transaction Inquiry screen. The Pick Tickets setting defined on the SA Administrator Options-Documents-<Type of Order> Orders screen is not applicable for these reports.
