Sales Order Entry - Quick Line Entry overview

Use this page to add multiple lines to an order simultaneously. Quick line entry requires fewer steps and processing time than single line entry. Use this method if you use a scanner to enter products on the order.

Pricing logic is not initiated when you select a product. The price that is displayed is based on product records. You can select Check for Non-Standard Products in Easy and Quick Line Entry in Sales Order Entry-Order Entry Defaults to receive alerts about promotional products that are set up in PD Pricing Setup and other non-standard and restricted products. View error and warning messages in the Messages column. You cannot add products with errors to the order.

If you specify a price before adding a product to the grid, it is treated as a price override. The price that you specify is used regardless of what is set up on the Product Setup or Product Warehouse Product Setup record.

You can use the Personalize feature to add these columns to the Products to Add grid:

  • Margin Amount
  • Margin %
  • Discount Amount
  • Discount Type

If you change the price of a product, the margin fields for the product are updated. You can specify values in the Price Override, Discount Amount, and Discount Type fields.

You can perform these actions on the Quick Line Entry screen:

  • Specify the line information and click Add to add an order line to the Products to Add grid.
  • Click Add Lines to add the lines from the Products to Add grid to the Products grid.
  • Switch between line entry modes within an order. Lines added to the grid are retained when you switch to another line entry mode and back to the Quick Line Entry screen.

  • Click the Move to Advanced Line Entry icon for an order line to edit the line on the Advanced Line Entry screen.

    • The line details from the Quick Line Entry screen are automatically populated on the Advanced Line Entry screen.
    • The transferred order line retains the specified price. A price override flag is automatically set to prevent recalculating the price based on standard pricing rules.
    Note: 
    • To prevent duplicate lines, the product line is removed from the Quick Line Entry screen after moving to the Advanced Line Entry screen, and the Item Removed from Quick Line Entry message is displayed.
    • If an order line on the Quick Line Entry screen contains errors, a red error icon is displayed in the first column. Order lines with errors cannot be moved to the Advanced Line Entry screen. If you attempt to move an order line with errors, the Item cannot be moved to Advanced Line Entry when errors exist. warning message is displayed.
  • Click Clear All to remove all lines from the grid.
  • Select the required lines and click Delete Lines to remove the selected lines from the grid.
