Reviewing availability in other warehouses

You can create a warehouse transfer (WT) to replenish products in a Storeroom-managed warehouse. You can replenish Storeroom inventory with customer- or distributor-owned inventory from another Storeroom warehouse or the distributor warehouse.

To replenish inventory from another warehouse, use the Transfer module in Distribution SX.e to determine demand and create transfers when stock is low. If a Storeroom warehouse is the authorized replenishment path (ARP) for a Storeroom product, then another warehouse is recommended for replenishment by the Transfer Entry Recommended Replenishment Action Report, based on the product’s ordering controls.

If customer- or distributor-owned inventory is transferred from another Storeroom warehouse, you can use these functions in Storeroom to process the transfer:

  • WT Ship/Receive in Receipts
  • Transfer in Inventory Movement

If the inventory is transferred from a distributor’s non-Storeroom warehouse to a Storeroom warehouse, you must ship the warehouse transfer in Distribution SX.e. You cannot use Storeroom to ship a transfer from a warehouse that is not Storeroom-managed.

For warehouse products with an ARP type of Warehouse, you receive a list of products in the Storeroom warehouse that are recommended for Transfer Entry Recommended Replenishment Action Report. These products are not considered for transfer from another warehouse:

  • Products that are not set up as customer-only in Product Warehouse Product Setup-Storeroom cannot be transferred to a warehouse where the product is customer-only.
  • Products that are set up as customer-only in a Storeroom-managed warehouse cannot be transferred to a distributor’s warehouse that is not Storeroom-managed. This transaction qualifies as a return.

Depending on your security, you can source a nonstock product during issue entry in Storeroom. If you select Create Warehouse Transfer when you add a nonstock product to an issue, a warehouse transfer is created using one of these warehouses:

  • The warehouse that is specified in the Storeroom Warehouse Transfer Authorized Replenishment Path Warehouse field in Product Warehouse Product Setup-Storeroom
  • The warehouse that you specify in the From Warehouse field

The line from the issue is included on the Transfer Entry Recommended Replenishment Action Report when it is run. If Y is specified in the Storeroom Warehouse Transfer Approve Type field, the line is automatically approved. The WT is created by the Transfer Entry Recommended Replenishment Action Report and is tied to the order. The WT is set to the Ordered stage. If N is specified in the Storeroom Warehouse Transfer Approve Type field, the tied WT is set to the Requested stage. It must be manually reviewed by the shipping warehouse.

Unavailable products that require inspection can be included in the recommended order quantity. Warehouse Transfer RRAR or Both must be selected in the Include Unavail Reason Quantity field on the warehouse product record. A warning is displayed if unavailable quantities are included.

After pick tickets are printed in the shipping warehouse through the Transfer Entry Print Warehouse Transfer Report, products are picked for transfer to the Storeroom-managed warehouse. The products are shipped through WT Ship/Receive in Storeroom or Transfer Shipping Feedback Entry in Distribution SX.e.

During shipping, each line item is checked for customer-owned quantity, based on the shipping warehouse. If all the products are customer-owned, the customer quantity amount on the WT line is updated with the shipped amount. If both customer- and distributor-owned quantities are in the shipping warehouse, the customer-owned products are used first. In this scenario, the customer quantity is tracked as a subset of the quantity that was shipped for the line item.

After the products arrive in the warehouse, receiving information is entered in Storeroom Receipts. Warehouse personnel locate the transfer in the Receipts list and indicate the quantity received.

You can also automatically receive the transferred product into inventory immediately upon shipping in Storeroom WT Ship/Receive. Auto Receive Warehouse Transfer When Shipped must be selected in Product Warehouse Description Setup-Storeroom for the receiving warehouse. The received quantity is updated with the shipped quantity when you click Ship/Receive as Complete and then Submit in Storeroom.

When receiving is complete, the receipt information is submitted to Distribution SX.e through an SX.api call. Validation and final updating is performed in Transfer Receipt of Inventory Entry. The received quantities, both customer and distributor, are updated based on the inventory type on the receipt. When the Sales Entry Processing Back Order Fill Report is run, the received quantities determine what portion of a back order is filled with net available customer- or distributor-owned products. The Allocation/Fill Report and Receipts Report that is printed on the Storeroom printer is generated by the Sales Entry Processing Back Order Fill Report.
