Setting up a non-specific unit conversion

A unit conversion can apply to all products in the Product module. During transaction entry, the conversion factor from SA Table Code Values Setup is used to determine the price and cost if a product-specific unit conversion does not exist. Setting up a unit conversion in this function can save time if the unit conversion applies to most of your products.

  1. Select System Administrator > Setup > Table Code Value.
  2. Select the Unit Conversion table type.
  3. Click New.
  4. In the Unit field, specify a user-defined code to identify this unit conversion.
  5. Specify a description.
  6. Click Save.
  7. If you use EDI, specify the EDI unit of measure.

    Specify a value from the ANSI X12 Standards manual.

  8. Select Multiple or Fraction for the Conversion Type.
  9. Specify the number of stocking units in the unit.
    • If you selected Multiple as the conversion type, specify the number by which to multiply the product’s stocking unit.
    • If you selected Fraction, specify the value by which to divide the product’s stocking unit.
  10. Click Save.
