Adding new Warehouse Manager bin locations
After you set up table values for Warehouse Manager (WM), use WM Bin Location and Product Setup to create one or more bin locations in a warehouse. Associate these bin locations with specific products and assign quantities of products per bin. We recommend that you run an initial Product Entry Physical Count Report to assess and establish quantities on hand. After initial setup, use WM Transaction Entry to increase, decrease, or move available quantities in a Warehouse Manager bin location.
These instructions assume you have set up the products in Product Setup and Product Warehouse Product Setup.
- Select Warehouse Manager > Setup > Bin Location and Product.
- Click New.
-
In the General section, specify this information:
- Warehouse
- Specify a valid warehouse.
- Bin Location
- Specify a user-defined name for the new bin location. Use this format: Bldg/Row/Section/Shelf. For example, AA/A1/003/012.
- Description
- Specify a descriptive name for the bin location. For example, Fragile.
- Assignment
- Select Open, Primary, Single, Alternate, Staging, or Unavailable. If the bin is a primary bin, you must maintain the bin quantities using the WM Entry Replenish Primary Bins Report, and then WM Accept/Review Replenishment Entry.
- Priority
- Select 9 - First Picked if the bin should be picked from first when orders are filled. Specify 0 - Last Picked if the bin should be picked from last. Use the numbers between 0 and 9 when you have multiple alternate bins.
- Status
- Select Available if the bin is ready to receive product. The status changes to In Service when product is stored in the bin location. Select Inactive when a bin location is damaged. If the bin has been assigned to be a staging location, the status automatically changes to Staging.
- Bin Type
- Select a bin type for the bin location. The bin type is used as a range restriction during replenishment to prevent the directed bin put away from looking through each bin location. Bin types are set up in SA Table Code Value Setup.
- Size Type
- Select the size type. The size type is also used as a restriction during replenishment. Size Types are set up in SA Table Code Value Setup.
-
You can create a cross-reference between the size type and the product to validate how many units can be stored in bins with a specific size type. This requires that Size Type Restricted is specified as the Allocate Type in Product Warehouse Product Setup-General-Location.
- Unit Type
- Select Stocking, Buying, or Standard Pack. The unit type is used during receiving and replenishment to determine what unit to use in filling the bin. Primary locations are typically stocking units. Alternate locations are typically buying or standard pack units.
-
In Sizes section, specify this information:
- Length
-
Optionally, specify the length of the bin location.
- Width
- Optionally, specify the width of the bin location.
- Height
- Optionally, specify the height of the bin location.
- Cube
- Specify the volume of the bin location. The cube size must be greater than zero. The cube value is used as the number of items that can fit in the bin.
- In Dates and Counts sections, leave the fields blank. The values are determined by the system as product is stored and picked from the bin location.
- Click Save.
- Conduct a search for the record you created in the previous steps.
- Open the record, and click Products.
- Click New.
- Specify the product to store in this bin.
- Specify the On Hand quantity of the product in this bin. This quantity should match the quantity in Product Warehouse Product Setup after Warehouse Manager is implemented.
- If this bin is a primary bin, specify Minimum and Maximum quantities for replenishment purposes.
- Click Save.
