Pull versus Push

Inventory can be pushed or pulled. The branches can pull stock from the central warehouse, or the central warehouse can push stock to the branches. When the branches pull inventory, the branches control their own inventory levels and run the Transfer Entry Recommended Replenishment Action Report.

When stock is pushed from the central warehouse, the branches receive stock automatically when the central warehouse determines that they require it. The shipping warehouse controls the branch’s inventory level and runs the Transfer Entry Recommended Replenishment Action Report. The Push Stock On Hand setting in SA Administrator Options-Documents-Transfer Orders-Replenishment determines the level to which stock can fall before stock is pushed to branches.
