Adjustments made through WM Transaction Entry immediately update the related WM Bin Location and Product Setup fields.

Assigning products to bin locations

To add a product to an existing bin, select Add To Bin in the Adjustment Type field in WM Transaction Entry. If a product has already been set up as a primary to single bin location, an error is displayed and you cannot add the product. The system checks Product Warehouse Product Setup and WM Bin Location and Product Setup to ensure that the bin types and building and row restrictions are compatible.

Changing quantities in a location

If Yes is specified in Allow Multiple Products Per Bin option in SA Administrator Options-Products-Warehouse Manager, the system checks the bin when you change quantities in a location. If only one product occupies the bin, that product is used as default.

If you try to change quantities in the bin with more than one product, a window is displayed with the products available. If you attempt to decrease the quantity in a bin by more than the quantity of product available, you receive a warning message. The associated WM Bin Location and Product Setup quantities are displayed as a negative number if you take the quantity below available.

When all quantities in Open or Staging status change to zero, the record is deleted. The status code is reset to Available if these conditions are met:

  • The record is the last record that is attached to WM Bin Location and Product Setup.
  • The previous status code was In Service.

WM Transaction Entry does not adjust product balances in Product Warehouse Product Setup.

Moving products to another location

In WM Transaction Entry, you can move products from one bin to another. The product must be assigned to both bins before the move or you receive a warning message. If you attempt to move more than the quantity available, you also receive a message.

If the allocation is Size Type Restricted and you attempt to move a product that does not fit the location, you receive a message.

If a product in the old bin has a value in the Restrict To field in Product Warehouse Product Setup that conflicts with the new bin location, a message is displayed. No changes are made in Product Warehouse Product Setup or WM Bin Location and Product Setup.

You can also use the WM Administrator Change Bin function to change bin locations. This function copies the information from the existing bin to a new bin location and removes the old bin location.
