Overriding a product shipping restriction on a warehouse transfer

Product Shipping Restriction Setup records are used to prevent products from being shipped with unauthorized shipping methods. Your company uses this functionality to comply with shipping and special handling restrictions required for the product. For example, products may require specific shipment parameters for these reasons:

A specific carrier type, such as ground shipping, is required for the shipment.
The product requires refrigeration throughout its shipment.

Failure to comply with shipping or special handling requirements, such as carrier type or refrigeration, could lead to regulatory fines, or your customers could receive spoiled products. This function can help ensure that your shipment requirements are consistently and reliably met.

When you specify a product on a sales order or warehouse transfer, the product is validated against the restriction records to determine if it meets the specified Ship Via or special handling requirements. The product may be allowed, not allowed, or not allowed without a restriction override option.

The product shipping restriction information is stored on the transfer line. If the selected shipping methods are not allowed, then you must remove them from the transfer or override the restriction at the line or transfer level. You can only override the restriction if the Allow Override setting is selected on the applicable Product Shipping Restriction Setup record.

Use these instructions to override a product shipping restriction on a warehouse transfer:

Select Transfer > Entry > Transfer.
Create or maintain a transfer.
In Advanced Line Entry mode, specify a product.
If the selected shipping details are not allowed for the selected product, then a warning message is displayed. When you add or edit the line, the warning message becomes an error. Click OK.
If the restriction cannot be overridden, then click Clear.
To override the restriction to add the product to the transfer, expand the Restrictions section and specify this information under the Restricted Ship field:

Allow Shipping Restriction Override

Select this field to override the applied product shipping restrictions. This field is only available when the Allow Override option is selected in the Product Shipping Restriction Setup record or in the Special Handling code in SA Table Code Value Setup-Special Handling for the applied product shipping restrictions.

Override Comment

Specify an override comment. This field is only available when you select the Allow Shipping Restriction Override field.

Override

Verify that your Operator record is specified in this field.
Click Add.
After the restriction is overridden, the line bypasses all further restriction validation processing for this warehouse transfer.
Finish the transfer.

If you maintained a transfer, then the existing lines and the requested ship via are re-validated against the product shipping restriction records when you click Finish.
