Defining VA assembly product segments

Segment assembly configuration applies to Configuration assembly-type items only. The setup on the Assembly view determines the format of the Assembly Segment Configuration window in Sales Order Entry and generates the final product number as the assembly segment values separated by dash (-) delimiters.

  1. Select VA > Setup > Product Default.
  2. Add the Configuration assembly product. Specify the product number, warehouse, the number of days to fabricate, and a reference description.
  3. Select the item and access the Assembly view.
  4. In the Size field, specify the valid entry size of the segment field.
  5. In the Type field, specify the valid entry type: Integer, Character, or Number.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each segment of the configurable assembly-type item. You can define up to 24 segments.
  7. In the Length Segment field, specify the number of the defined segment that represents the length component.
  8. Save your definition.
