Assembly-type products
VA assembly-type products can be specified as one of these types in Product Setup-General:
- Preset assembly-type items are products with one or more components of variable length. The assembly for Preset assembly-type items follows the standard VA model.
- Configurable assembly-type items are products with flexible assembly components. The Configurable assembly-type components may be of variable length, but this type of item also varies in assembly segment to create multiple possible items from a single assembly definition. Configurable assembly-type items generate the product number from the segment entries.
- CPQ Configurator assembly-type items are non-kit products set up for Infor CPQ configuration. Configuration occurs through integration with Value Add.
You can create VA templates in VA Product Default Setup to set up fabrication assembly items, components, and labor. You can create variable-length components, specify variable labor charges for assembly-type items, and define the size, type, valid values, and rules for the segments that make up a Configurable assembly-type item. The segments defined in VA Product Default Setup are shown during order entry.
You can order assembly-type products in Sales Order Entry and tie them to a VA order for assembly. When you create an order line for an assembly-type item and specify the variable information, such as the length or segment values, the final product specifications are drawn from the VA Product Default Setup definition of the product, its components, and, for a Configurable assembly-type item, its segments. The quantity needed for components is calculated and the order is updated.
