Advanced search

When a basic search returns too many results, use advanced search to refine your search. An advanced search provides more search criteria fields than a basic search. For example, you can only specify the vendor and ship from for a basic search in Vendor Inquiry. When you conduct an advanced search, you can also specify these and other values:

  • Lookup name
  • First and last name
  • Include Inactive
  • City
  • State
  • Zip code
  • Phone number

When advanced search is available in a function, an Advanced Search button is displayed in the Search function. Advanced search is unique to each function. The criteria fields that are available are based on the function. In most functions, all criteria fields are displayed by default. Exceptions include functions, such as Sales Order Inquiry, in which the criteria fields are too numerous to display by default. You can use the Criteria field to display and hide fields, based on your requirements.

The criteria fields are grouped in field sets that contain related fields. Examples of field sets include General and Address field sets for customer and vendor setup and inquiry functions.

When you first open Advanced Search, the default search is displayed. The default search can be the system default or a saved search that you designated as the default search. Use the default search or load a saved search by selecting it from the Saved Search field.

After you conduct a search, the criteria field values are retained as long as the function remains open. Click Reset to clear the fields to conduct a subsequent search using the loaded search. To reload the default values for a saved search, reload the saved search.

Saved searches are stored in the Distribution SX.e database. You can select your saved searches on any machine or browser from which you access Distribution SX.e.

When you conduct an advanced search and then edit a record, the advanced search results are reloaded after you save the record.

You can personalize each Advanced Search window.

See Modifying Advanced Search in the Personalize window.
