Purchase Demand Center Entry - Line Items overview

Purchase > Entry > Demand Center

Use this page to review the products recommended for replenishment. You can sort reports in the grid by column headings, maintain some values, and select products to drill down for more detail or other actions.

You can edit values for individual products listed on each replenishment report, either by updating those values directly in the grid, or by selecting a product and clicking Edit. You can accept a line or you can change the quantity ordered, unit, price, and due date. Other columns provide status information, indicating whether this is a rush, below critical, or below order point. Short- and long-term surplus is displayed on the Edit Details view that provides visibility into surplus stock levels. Information, such as the Blanket PO#, is noted because this kind of purchase order can affect purchasing decisions. The Supersede column indicates when inventory exists for any old, superseded items. This value is refreshed each time you access the Line Items view for this report.

The price is obtained from a PD Pricing Setup record if it exists. If one is not available, the hierarchy checks the Product Extended Product Cross Reference Setup record if the Product Warehouse Product Setup record contains a different vendor. If a price is still not available, the last cost or replacement cost from the Product Warehouse Product Setup record is used if the Use Last/Replacement Cost setting is selected in SA Administrator Options-Documents-Purchase Orders-Entry Defaults.

You can accept or deny the individual line items with this function. You can then merge the selected line items to produce a purchase order. Depending on your SA Administrator Options-Documents-Purchase Orders-Replenishment acceptance type, you may have to accept each line item before it can be merged into the purchase order file.

While you are working in the Purchase Demand Center Entry, records are validated. For example, if a sales order for a special or nonstock product generates a report, you cannot modify or accept a quantity greater than the quantity ordered. The line item is also checked to see if it is in or out of season, to further determine the status of the product.

You can also analyze the effectiveness of the usage control methods you have assigned to your products using product administration tools, such as these:

  • Product Administration Usage Rate Analysis Report
  • Product Administration Usage Rate Update Entry
Note: Ordering and usage analysis can also be viewed in Product Administration Exception Processing Center-Detail.

Add Line

You can add products to the report. Click Add Line at the bottom of the grid. In the fields, specify the product, quantity, unit, price, contract, and whether it is a rush. Additionally, you can access the Contracts List screen. Controls are applied when adding a line. For example, inactive products and products without a Product Warehouse Product Setup record for the warehouse specified on the report prompt an error message and cannot be added.

Other messages alert you to special conditions with the item you are attempting to add. You can accept the alert, or you can continue. For example, you are notified if the product is an Order as Needed product, if the product does not have a Vendor ARP, or if an order or transfer is required to enter a non-stock item.
