PI Import Definition Setup - IDW overview
Use this page to specify the fields to import and their exact location in each industry data warehouse record.
The mapping for the Industry Data Warehouse (IDW) view conforms to the industry standards. Therefore, you can specify the fields you want to import and their exact location in each record. If you do not want to import the value in a specific field, you would leave the default of zero (0) for the field location.
The Product Import module communicates with the IDW using various views of the EDI 832 transaction set supported by IDW.
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) formed the Industry Data Exchange Association (IDEA). It is a consortium of electrical manufacturers and distributors. IDEA’s mission was to develop, operate, and deploy the infrastructure for the Industry Data Warehouse (IDW). It is a repository of information provided by manufacturers and available for authorized subscribers to access.
After setting up tables for importing data from the IDW, the workflow for downloading information and updating inventory is similar to other Product Import data imports.
