KP Substitute Component Setup overview
Function acronym: KPSS
Use this function to define acceptable product substitutes for kit components. Substitute components are products that may be used temporarily in lieu of the original product specified in KP Kit Setup.
You can use substitute products for the original component when the Substitute field is selected. Substitute products can be used for a component in a group if the Substitute field is selected in KP Group Setup. If you have already established product substitutes in Product Extended Product Cross Reference Setup, you can click to copy the records.
Substitute products for kit components must be active products. Inactive, build-on-demand kits, and core charge products cannot be used.
Remanufactured core products can be kit substitute components, or they can be added when the kit parent item is entered on an order. If you order a remanufactured core product as a component, the parent item of the kit must also be a remanufactured core product. Remanufactured core products cannot be added as components to nonstock kits. Implied core products do not qualify as a component item. A dirty core item may be a component item on a kit. The parent item of such a kit may be either a standard product or a remanufactured core product. When you specify the quantity shipped for a remanufactured core product, the quantity shipped for the associated implied core product line is revalued automatically. The quantity shipped for the implied core product line is determined by this formula:
the quantity shipped for the remanufactured core product line multiplied by the value in the Implied Quantity field in Product Setup
