KP Tally Mix Setup overview

Kit Production > Setup > Tally Mix

Function acronym: KPSM

Use this function to select components for tally parent products. A tally is a group of random-length lumber products that have the same width and thickness, but random lengths.

The building materials industry uses tallies to group lumber products as a single unit instead of handling the components of the tally individually.

There are three types of tallies: specified dimensional, random dimensional, and memo. Specified dimensional tallies consist of a specific mix of components and exact quantities of each component. Random dimensional tallies contain certain percentages of components consisting of any mix that equals the total linear feet ordered. Memo tallies are only concerned with the total number of linear feet without regard to the lengths or quantities in the mix. The type of tally product determines how entries are validated and inventory records updated.

The tally parent product must be set up in Product Setup as a dimensional tally product before you identify components for the tally. Tally components must be stocked products. Non-stock, serial, lot, or cross-reference products cannot be used as tally components.

Tally Bundle products

A product that is set up as a random-tally kit can also be marked as a tally bundle product. If the Bundle ID Required field is selected in Product Setup for a random-tally kit, a bundle ID is required. There is an exception for loose inventory when the tally bundle product is entered on a purchase order or customer order line. After you set up a tally bundle product in Product Setup and Product Warehouse Product Setup, you can specify the mix of components for the tally in KP Tally Mix Setup. Tally bundle components must be stocked products. Non-stock, serial, lot, or cross-reference products cannot be used as tally bundle components.
