Product Fill Report overview
Function acronym: ICRIF
Use this report as an analysis tool that shows the percentage difference between shipped quantities and ordered quantities. The percentage is called the fill rate of a product. It provides a measurement of inventory efficiency on stocked items.
This report provides an alternative to the service level reports. While service level is the best measurement of overall customer service, the Product Fill Report is the best measurement of inventory effectiveness.
Products and orders must meet these conditions to be included on this report:
- Orders must be invoiced through the Sales Entry Invoice Processing Report.
- Orders must be a standard order type, such as a stock order,
counter sales, or blanket release.
For blanket orders, the order must be the original release, not a back order. The back order status is checked at the header level only to prevent orders with a Just In Time disposition from adjusting your fill rate.
- Products must be stocked products. Special products, non-stocks, and direct order lines are not included on the report.
- Products on the order must be from the requested warehouse, not an alternate warehouse.
- Products on the order must be the product that was requested.
If the product is a substitute or upgrade, the requested product is rated, not the substitute or upgrade product. You can opt to exclude substitutes and upgrades from the report, but it skews the fill rate results.
If a customer product number is used, the product that is cross-referenced with the customer number is rated.
If the product has been superseded, the superseding product is rated, not the superseded product.
Orders with a disposition of ship complete or tag and hold always have a fill rate of 100 percent. If these orders are not included, they do not affect the fill rate. Accumulative purchase order lines are included on the report and impact the reported service level.
If product classes change and the report is processed again with the same parameters, the products move to the new product class on the report.
Product and orders that met these conditions are included on the report in product class groups. The ordered and shipped quantities are displayed in stocking units. The fill rate is calculated by dividing the shipped quantity by the ordered quantity. A total number of lines and a total number of completed lines are provided. A percentage of completed lines is provided by dividing the number of completed lines by the total number of lines. Totals are provided for each product class and grand totals are provided at the end for all product classes.
