Product Inquiry - Components overview
Use this page to review build-on-demand and prebuilt kit parent products and their components.
This information provides a snapshot of the current availability of a kit's components, groups, options, and keyword products in sequence number order. These were previously established in KP Kit Setup. Multiple layers from KP Kit Setup are displayed for any subassembly components.
The quantities needed to complete a kit and the quantity available, either negative or positive, displays. If a component is a subassembly prebuilt item, PRE is displayed in front of the component name.
Various component characteristics may be indicated by codes displayed as outlined below:
If: | Then: |
---|---|
a component is lacking, | a negative quantity is displayed in the Short ( ) column. Negative components are designated with nines (such as 99999999.99). |
a component, group, or option lists a variable quantity, | an X is displayed in the Var Qty column. |
substitutes can be made, | an X is displayed in the Var Prod column. |
a component is required, | an X is displayed in the Req’d column. |
the component is displayed multiple times in the kit, | an X is displayed in the M field to the right of the Short ( ) field. The value that displays for all occurrences of the same product is the same. The value is negative if the component lacks sufficient quantity. It displays the excess quantity after the quantities needed to build the kit are calculated. |
The Short (-) column quantity is the amount from the component's Product Warehouse Product Setup Net Available balance after the quantities to build the kit are taken into consideration. For example, three widgets are required to build each kit. The Product Warehouse Product Setup Net Available amount for widgets has a quantity of 500, then 497 is displayed beneath the Short (-) column.
Labor products show 99999999.99 available for the maximum quantity because Product Warehouse Product Setup quantities do not apply to labor products.
A calculation is performed to display the correct quantity. The kit quantity and unit entered in the Qty and Unit fields are multiplied to determine the quantity that displays. If you enter 5 each and the component needs 3 to build the kit, 15 displays in the Qty Needed column.
