Product Restriction Setup - General field descriptions
Use these fields to specify the general details of a product restriction record. Fields are presented in alphabetical order.
- Active
-
Select this option to indicate that the record is active. Clear the option to inactivate the restrictions and exclude it from validation processing.
- Allow Restriction Override
-
Select Allow Restriction Override to enable users to override this restriction in Sales Order Entry. A user must be authorized to perform the override. This authority can be set up in SA Authorization Security Administration or be manually granted by a manager. If you do not want users to override this restriction, do not select this option.Note: If you select Allowed in the Status Code field, and you specify one or more customers on the Customer Detail view, you are prevented from selecting Allow Restriction Override. The message "Allow Restriction Override: Override Restriction Can Only be Used on Not Allowed Restrictions (7085)" is displayed.
- Certificate/License Required
-
Select Yes if a certificate or license is required by the customer or shipto to buy the product. When you specify a restricted product in Sales Order Entry, the restriction code from the main product restriction record is compared to the restriction codes on the customer’s or shipto’s Product Certifications/Licenses Setup records to determine if the product can be purchased. To further refine the search for a valid certification or license, you can specify the certification or license in a customer-level product restriction record that is attached to the main product restriction record.
Note: If you selected Not Allowed for the Status Code option, you cannot require a certificate or license. If you select the Certificate/License Required option, an error message is displayed. - Expire Date
-
Specify the expire date of the restriction. This setting is optional but if you specify an expiration date, this record is not included during validation processing that occurs on or after the expiration date.
- Restriction Code
-
Specify the restriction code that applies to this record.
- Status Code
-
Indicate whether this restriction record allows or does not allow the product to be sold. This option is integral in the management of your restriction records. When you create a main restriction record with attached customer-level restriction records that does not allow a product, you are also defining the conditions in which a product is allowed. Before creating a restriction record, consider how you can impose the restriction without creating unnecessary records that might impede Distribution SX.e performance.
For example, if a product is restricted in Hawaii and Alaska but not in the contiguous United States, you could create a main product restriction record that does not allow the product and attach two customer-level restriction records, one for Hawaii and one for Alaska. Conversely, you could create a main product restriction record that allows the product and attach 48 customer-level restriction records, one for each state except Hawaii and Alaska.
If you select Allow in the Status Code field, you cannot select Allow Restriction Override.
